FOOD COACH - Lori Corbin
Many sandwich lovers were elated when Jarod lost weight with his popular Subway plan. Now, many are making like a kangaroo and stuffing a pita for weight loss.
The Pocket Diet was created by a pita bread company called Kangaroo Brands to promote their product. It was tested in a hospital in Wisconsin, producing great results. Thirty eight people averaged an eight pound loss in six weeks, with one participant losing seventeen pounds.
The idea?
Eating four or five daily pita sandwiches stuffed with healthy combinations such as lean meat, eggs, vegetables and cheese: even kid friendly pockets like peanut butter, jelly and banana
The program also allows a couple of snacks like fruit, yogurt and nuts.
Experts say it works because it naturally teaches portion control, automatically measuring the correct serving. Plus, the pitas average only eighty to ninety calories

We all know that diet and exercise is the best approach in order to improve our shape and make it leaner. But is there an easier way?
Answer: Yes, there is! Choose clothes that make you LOOK thinner!!
What to Wear To Give yourself a Leaner Look
1. Go Monochrome!
Monochromatic dressing - wearing just one color from head to toe - is the favorite trick of virtually every fashion editor and stylist. Two colors break the body in half and a lighter color on the bottom makes you look bottom-heavy. One dark color creates a longer, leaner look. Black is the most slimming color, but any dark color is good.
Note: If you really want to wear two colors, then wear the the darker color on the bottom and the lighter on top.
A "Monochrome Look" doesn't have to be dull. Far from it. This is where a mixture of textures can add richness, interest and sophistication to any outfit. Mix soft wool, cashmere, suede, velvet and silk in the same color. This helps create interest without taking away the magic "Vertical Line" that makes you look long and lean!
2. Blend Shades Of The Same Color
Another great way to create the long-lean look is to blend different shades of the same color. Blend lighter and darker shades of one color. Blend a range of greys, from pearl grey to slate, to charcoal, or mix a range of browns from stone to taupe to coffee. But remember: keep the lighter colors on top.
3. How to Mix Colors
If you want to go for a mixture of color, do so, but keep it dark! Mix any subtle dark color like mink brown, charcoal grey, deep forest green, with black. Remember everything should "flow" without interruption from top to toe.
4. Other Tips to Improve Body Shape
Skirts
Skirts should be longer than they are wide. Fuller skirts look better longer; straight skirts look better shorter. Hem lines look better when they reach the narrowest part of the calf. Avoid wearing very long skirts as they can be ageing. If you are bottom-heavy, avoid pleats as they can add pounds to your shape.
Jackets
Choose long-line, single-breasted jackets with hidden pockets. Avoid belts, bulky pockets and anything that draws attention to the midriff.
Pants
Avoid wide-bottom pants, as they can make you look bigger than you really are! Instead choose well-cut, tailored, straight-legged pants, ideally without pockets, or with 'hidden' pockets.
A Note About How Adults Perceive Their Weight and Body Shape
Research into body image by Kellogg's corporation reveals that women typically base their perception of their body shape on supermodels and Hollywood film stars, rather than on ordinary women. But according to research, models and film stars are 15-23 percent lower in weight and 5-6 inches taller than the 'average' American woman who is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 138 pounds. No wonder an estimated 95 percent of women feel depressed about their weight and shape.
The moral? Don't compare your weight or shape with these artificial people. Dress in lean-looking clothes, and if you want to actually reduce weight, choose a healthy eating plan, take regular exercise and let Nature do the rest.

Weight Loss Ear Staple – Mississippi Medical Board shuts down Businesses offering Ear Stapling for Losing Weight
The state medical board of Mississippi ordered 14 weight loss businesses that do ear stapling because they say they are doing so illegally.
According to a news report by ABC news, Mal Morgan who is the executive director of the Mississippi Board of Medical Licensure had received several complaints of people that had the ear stapling performed causing serious ear infections. Doctor’s in the state had more people coming in to get the staple removed and to treat the infection.
The ear stapling business advertised this as a weight loss procedure which is why they closed down the businesses as they are practicing medicine without a license.
Ear stapling: Miracle diet or dangerous fad?
“Oh …,” Angie Hooker says as her physician punches a small, surgical staple into the upper cartilage of her left pinna (visible part of ear).
Angie’s ear isn’t bleeding, but from her countenance it’s clear to those in the room that little about the operation is pleasant. But Hooker, like many other Independence County residents, wants to lose weight enough to undergo the unproven and potentially dangerous procedure known as ear stapling.
While the origins of the procedure are debatable, the widely-held belief is ear stapling carried over from Eastern acupuncture, an ancient practice which consists of piercing the body with numerous fine needles in certain areas known as meridian (or simply acupuncture) points. [Acupuncture for Everyone: What It Is, Why It Works, and How It Can Help You]
The points are believed to affect and heal various muscles, nerves and organs. For example, an acupuncturist may treat a patient experiencing pain in his or her head by inserting a series of needles along the back of the neck or around the temples.
Stapling the ear through the upper cartilage, some believe, provides constant stimulation for the vagus or pneumogastric nerve, a very lengthy (the word vagus means wandering) nerve that supplies motor and sensory information from the mouth and larynx down to the large intestine and colon.

Inserting acupuncture needles superficially into various parts of the body can facilitate weight loss by giving the person a feeling of well-being which can suppress the desire for excess food. Acupuncture also can stimulate metaboliscm and thereby enable the body to utilize food efficiently instead of storing it as fat.

Obesity Acupuncture Points
The specific points used for each patient at each treatment depend on many individual factors. The acupuncture physician determines which points should be used with regard to the patient's fat distribution, emotional status, eating habits and other factors.
Weight Control Ear Staples
The use of staples in the ear for weight control is an American innovation which is often ineffective and dangerous. Only two points - one in the upper outer part of each ear - are used by this method in contrast to the ten or twenty points used in regular acupuncture treatments. The cartilage of the ear does not replace itself after injury and has little resistance to infection. Staples left in place for many days promote infection and sometimes fall out and enter the ear canal, where they can damage the ear dmm or other structures. There have been cases of people having permanent holes in the upper parts of their ear as the result of infected staples with sloughing. For these reasons, we do not recommend the use of ear staples for weight reduction.
Acupuncture - Obesity - Diet & Exercise
Diet and exercise are helpful in any program of weight reduction. Most people who come for acupuncture treatments, however, have been given diets and exercise regimens before. They may have good knowledge of what they should and shouldn't eat but they feel depressed or irritable when they try to stay on a diet. Acupuncture should relieve such problems and improve will power along with aiding in weight loss.
Acupuncture, Obesity & Weight Loss
The actual weight loss to be expected is about two to four pounds a week. Six to ten acupuncture treatments are usually sufficient, and these can be given once or twice a week. Weight loss should continue after the treatments are completed until normal weight is achieved. The effects of acupuncture usually last at least six months and sometimes a year or more. If the desire to eat excessively returns at any time in the future, a few more acupuncture treatments should relieve it.
Note: Whether acupuncture is an effective treatment for obesity, remains undecided.
